Rethinking existing outdoor entertainment spaces for a midcentury-modern Woodstock property requires an approach that relies on iterative modes of design, respect for site conditions, and close client collaboration. Shale sourced from the abandoned onsite quarry forms the backbone of the new pathways, retaining walls, and patios, while sustainable black locust decking surrounds the pool, lending warmth to the forested space. Plant palette is guided by the native, acid- loving species found at the site, and views are framed to the catskills beyond by selective removal of ailing beech species. This project is in construction by Stone Ridge Luxury Landscapes, and is slated for completion in Fall 2025.
